Farewell Tumblr.
Well, I’m migrating to my new website www.rorymarshall.co.uk over the next few days, as with much of the content so I can have a more professional and complete portfolio. It’s been… interesting!
Nearly finished.
A schoolteacher once told me it was ‘very unlikely I’d ever achieve 5 GCSEs’ they were equally unimpressed when I returned to do my A-levels. I had one of the lowest attendances and I was kicked out of school two days before I left.
It’s taken 6 years, a Foundation degree, 3 years of Uni and I’m finally on track to achieving a first class degree.
Say what you want about graduate unemployment, it’s never been about that for me, I did it for myself and it was worth every. single. second.
Motion Capture demonstration using the IGS-190 suit from Animazoo, the suit itself uses 17 (+1) highly sensitive gyroscopic sensors to capture extremely accurate MoCap data to the software. MMU have been kind enough to purchase one of the suits at a cost of around £50,000 and are letting students including myself use the suit to capture data for use in an animation project. Our idea is to create a model, characterise within Autodesk Maya, capture the raw data from the suit and use the data to power the model. Hopefully in a few weeks the Youtube video we’re creating will be ready to post up.
‘Night Mode’
Night Mode isn’t some kind of mood I get into after about 7pm (that’s called drink mode) its the kind of dynamic range compression of audio that’s currently preventing me from making my neighbours very angry and myself very deaf while watching Band of Brothers on Blu-Ray in pure, uncompressed, off the chain good DTS-HD Master Audio. Listening to a HD Audio soundtrack is like pulling mufflers off your ears and it’s made listening to other kinds of audio like MP3 sound pretty poor.
I literally love this new cinema amplifier more than anything else is the flat… Except the missus :)
New Trailer for a short film “Mrs Peppercorn’s Magical Reading Room’ directed by Mike Le Han.
The trailer won ‘Best Trailer for an Un-Produced movie’ at the International Movie Trailer Festival in Los Angeles. Le Han happened to be in the studio with us earlier today, as some of the CGI for the film are being worked on by my project tutor. I ended up making a terrible faux pas by criticising the way he was looking at some footage on and Avid Suite. Not realising who he was, and having someone glare at me and tell me to go on Wikipedia was… Very Awkward!
His work on the other hand, is fantastic!
